HISTORY & TECHNOLOGY

Conceptualized, designed, executed and served as overall project manager for a multimedia interactive history walk and app for the City of Belmont, increasing education around the City's history and awareness and support for restoration and rehabilitation of historic buildings. The resultant growth of awareness and emotive connection in our residents assisted in the recent passage of a $50 million commercial mixed use project designated for the historic Chronicle Mill, which was otherwise due to be razed.

Belmont is experiencing rapid growth in its historic downtown.  In an effort to acquaint new residents with Belmont's rich history and to preserve a connection to the physical structures that represent that history, I led and managed a sub-committee that created an app and a self-guided history walk.  Our team gained support and cooperation from the local historical society, a local pictorial history museum and many local residents, who participated via recorded audio interviews.  Via a power point presentation of the project to City Council, I was able to gain funding for the initial set up of the app and commitment for the annual subscription costs and developer fees. The multimedia experience is available through a GPS enabled app which can be downloaded for free from the Google Play and App Store.

The Belmont Go app offers 49 opportunities for tours, guides and maps, which are now being populated by projects from various City departments and boards  around the subjects of Parks and Recreation, Environmental Sustainability, Public Art Exposure & Education, Belmont History & Art Exposure for Children, and as mapping support for various community events.

The Belmont Go logo was co-ideated.  All Belmont Go headers, loading pages and history walk artwork are representative my graphic design work.
